Romestead server not starting or not showing
Start with the boring checks first. Most early dedicated server problems come from missing files, blocked ports, firewall rules, bad config edits, or trying to join before the server has fully started.
Fast checklist
- Undo your last config change and try the original file.
- Check whether the dedicated server process is still running after launch.
- Read the newest log file for missing file, permission, or port errors.
- Make sure only one server is using the selected port.
- Allow the server executable through Windows Firewall.
- Forward the port on your router if friends outside your network need to join.
- Try direct connect if the public server list does not update immediately.
When to use hosting
If the same port, firewall, and uptime problems keep coming back, a hosted server may be cheaper than spending hours debugging your home network.
